Let This Cup Travel Further
From our own brand to a network of people and a wider world: the dream, and the ordinary days needed to carry it.
A dream is always a little lighter to speak aloud than to carry into practice.
From our own brand, to a network of people, to the world
From a cup of tea, to a membership network, to a global consumer brand: this is the direction set out in QINGYUNJIAN's vision proposal. On paper, it is a clear line. In real life, it must be joined together, step by step, through many ordinary days.
We hope to reach the world. We also know that we must first stand up to the test of the cup in front of us. Why does a guest come? Why would they return? Why would a partner continue working with us? How can a second shop be better prepared than the first? Those questions will determine how far the dream can travel.
Why begin with tea?
We chose tea because we needed a starting point where we could meet consumers directly, keep learning and gradually establish standards.
Tea can belong in everyday life and carry an exchange between Oriental culture and contemporary tastes. Sparkling Tea Reimagined is our way of exploring that exchange. We hope people come because of the product: that those familiar with tea discover a new expression, and those who seldom drink it find a reason to begin.
Starting with a drink allows us to learn how products, equipment, training, service and a shop work together. We can observe needs in different settings and test whether a process is clear and a standard can genuinely be repeated.
Tea is the first doorway. That doorway must have value in its own right. However many layers we build in the future, the cup a guest holds must never become a supporting character in a grand story. It is our most direct encounter with the consumer, and the beginning of every relationship of trust that follows.
Why put our own name on it?
Our early exploration included external brands and forms of collaboration. They offered a possible way into the market and gradually brought longer-term questions into focus. How would products evolve? How would the brand develop? How would the supply chain be built and expansion arranged? Who would ultimately own the assets being created?
Choosing to establish our own brand meant accepting greater responsibility. A road already travelled by someone else could not complete QINGYUNJIAN's own validation for us.
We wanted the work we put in today to accumulate within this name. Every product correction, every piece of training, every partnership and every guest willing to return could become part of QINGYUNJIAN's long-term foundation.
We hope consumers eventually remember QINGYUNJIAN itself: both a way of expressing tea and the way we treat them. Owning our brand puts direction and responsibility in the same place. We can decide where to go, and must answer for each step we take.
The first shop brings the vision into contact with reality
MacPherson Mall is the location of our first shop. It brought the brand from paper into operation and made us face an important reality: having products ready does not mean a steady flow of guests will appear by itself.
Our proposal records limited natural footfall at the first shop and a period of continuing to test channels. It made us rethink growth. Alongside asking how many people pass the door, we needed to ask where the people we want to serve are, how they discover us and whether they have a reason to return after their first purchase.
Schools, fitness settings, hotels, companies, communities, group buying, social media and delivery became directions to explore. The partner network and the shop's ability to fulfil orders needed to be understood together.
Facing reality sometimes means changing an earlier idea. The vision is worth holding onto; the method must accept the test of facts. We hope to have the courage to see problems and the patience to solve them one by one. Every honest correction brings the business a step closer to real life.
Giving a purchase the chance to become a relationship
A membership network is an important layer of our vision.
We hope a relationship has room to continue after a transaction ends. Guests should return because the products, experience and membership value remain worth choosing. The savings, clarity of benefits and consistency of service all need to be calibrated through real operations.
The membership relationship we want to build should be a continuing invitation: to discuss new products, hear new needs and share a good experience with people close to us. The referral model explores direct, single-tier relationships. Whether members participate must rest on their own choice.
Our proposal envisages a long-term membership scale of fifty thousand, eighty thousand and eventually more than one hundred thousand. These are ambitions that must be demonstrated in stages. Each person who joins remains an individual. We hope respect for people will endure as the scale grows.
A further part of the vision is for relevant partner businesses to offer members meaningful choices, gradually creating value through collaborations beyond tea. Member consent, privacy and relevance are prerequisites. A network worthy of trust should let the people within it know that their choices are respected.
Let partners see the road we have travelled together
The first cup brought through a partner deserves care too.
Our collaborations with Tefuda, Anytime and IBIS connect different everyday settings with QINGYUNJIAN. We hope these relationships can continue. Continuity needs a clear basis: which purchases came through a partner, how many cups they brought, and how sales, discounts and commissions are recorded.
QR codes, orders, the point-of-sale system and the dashboard help join these questions together. Behind the technology is a simple wish: that each contribution can be seen, and both sides have a common basis for understanding what happened.
A partner network should grow beyond the excitement of a single promotion. We hope real data will help us improve relevant benefits, recognise valuable collaborations and honestly acknowledge attempts that need adjustment. Lasting relationships need warmth and clarity.
Leave knowledge where those who follow can reach it
Moving from the first shop to a second and third involves more than reproducing the decor and menu.
Products, service, training, supply chains, membership, partnerships, permissions and finance need to become a system people can understand, carry out and check. A founder's experience should gradually become usable rules, rather than remain indefinitely in one person's mind.
This connects directly with our purposes of passing knowledge to young entrepreneurs and creating opportunities for professionals in midlife. The clearer the system, the more room later participants have to use their abilities. They can begin with accumulated knowledge and bring new experience to the endeavour.
We hope a second shop can demonstrate that improved methods are repeatable, and a third can gradually show that operations do not need a founder to resolve every emergency personally. When a team can accept responsibility and an organisation can keep learning, a brand has the foundations to go further.
From Singapore, towards the world with respect
Our vision proposal envisages building products, service, data and operating standards through company-owned shops in Singapore, then researching overseas franchising, regional partnerships or joint ventures.
It also sets out a direction for exploring markets in stages: first Malaysia, then consideration of Japan and Korea, followed by Europe and the United States, and an assessment of China when the brand and organisation are more mature. That direction remains subject to market research, food regulations, trademarks, supply chains, partner capabilities and real operating conditions.
Reaching the world should involve more than placing our logo in more locations. We hope to bring a contemporary Oriental expression with roots of its own and a willingness to learn, taking the people of each place seriously.
The proposal sets out a long-term capital pathway of seven to eight years, with possibilities including a public listing, strategic acquisition or continued private development. These are choices to assess as evidence, operations and market conditions evolve. We hope scale, profitability, governance and audit readiness can mature gradually, giving this endeavour more paths it can consider seriously.
The world is large. We are willing to imagine it with passion, and learn from it with humility.
Let the purpose withstand the long days
Our vision contains layers of shops, members, partners, an international brand, supply chains and systems. Each layer should rest on the real value created by the one before it.
If a shop has not yet found firm ground, we need to keep improving. If membership value has not been demonstrated, we need to adjust. If a new market is not ready, we should wait. Capital should support capabilities that have been validated. Operating discipline helps us retain room to choose again when circumstances are difficult.
These requirements do not diminish our passion. They give that passion a chance to last.
We hope QINGYUNJIAN can one day become a brand that begins in Singapore and is thoughtfully chosen in more places. We also hope that, when that day comes, we will still remember our first question: whom should this business ultimately serve?
Opportunities for older people, another chapter for professionals in midlife, knowledge passed to young entrepreneurs, and health and wellbeing brought into everyday life should remain part of future decisions. Shops may increase and the system may grow. Someone should always remember the original wish to make room for people.
From a cup of tea to a system; from a belief to an endeavour many people are willing to carry forward together. We hope to have the courage to speak our dream aloud and the perseverance to place it within our actions every day.
Born to Ascend.
May we remember why we began each time we rise. And when we reach further places, may we still recognise the people we first hoped to bring along.
